REFEREES

SVSC has referee programs for both inhouse and travel soccer.

The purpose of the inhouse referee program is, at least in part, to develop young referees so that they be interested in becoming USSF-certifed when they are old enough.  For inhouse soccer, referees must be a U10 or older.  A donation is made to the referee of $10 or $15 per game, depending on what game and what role the referee played.  The inhouse referee assignor is Mike Pavlick.  If your child has an interest in being an in-house referee, please let Mike know (412.726.2138 or [email protected]).

For travel soccer, a referee must be certified by the United States Soccer Federation. Certification classes for new referees are regulary offered in the winter (January, February, March).  A person interested in becoming a certified referee must be 13 years old at the time of taking the certification class.  To view the available courses, click on the "PA West Referees" link at the bottom of this home page.  Travel referees are paid between $30 and $75 dollars depending upon the level of game and their role.  The travel referee assignor is Patrick Doering.  Please contact Patrick if you have an interest in becoming a travel referee ([email protected] or 412.310.1037).  Travel referees must have their State Police and Child Abuse clearances, as well as an FBI clearance if they are 18 or older.  They must also have a SafeSport certification.
