SVSC's Kelsey Salopek Named All-State

Congratulations to Kelsey Salopek, who was named to the 2020 PA Soccer Coaches Association All-State High School team.  Kelsey, a junior midfielder who scored 42 goals and had 22 assists in 2020 for Steel Valley High School, is the first Steel Valley HS girl to earn this honor.  She was one of four WPIAL midfielders selected, along with two-time Gatorade PA Girls Player of the Year Elle Coffield (Mars; Pitt), UNC-Chapel Hill commit Tessa Dellarose (Brownsville), and Duquesne commit Mackenzie Leeder (Mt. Pleasant).  Kelsey was also one of just twelve players named to the Post-Gazette's All-Area team and was All-WPIAL and All-Section.  Kelsey has been playing for Steel Valley Soccer Club since she was four years old, and also plays for Century FC.  Recently, Kelsey gave a verbal commitment to play at NCAA Division I Kent State.  Great job, Kelsey!

Other SVSC players also earned post-season honors.  Carson Perhacs, a senior defender for Steel Valley High School, earned All-WPIAL and All-Section honors and, like Kelsey, has been playing for SVSC since he was four years old.  Carson also plays for Century FC and is committed to play at Point Park University in the Fall.

All-Section honors were earned by SVSC players Connor Knipp (Central Catholic); Tyler Wellman (SVHS); Lydia Alexandroff (SVHS); Chelsea Bulger (SVHS); Soraya Gibbs (SVHS); and Bella Meder (Serra Catholic).  Tony Salopek (SVHS) was Honorable Mention All-Section.  Congratulation to all!
